Archived Rumor Mill
Owing to The Crystal Serpent's popularity, neighboring shopkeepers and citizens of Westport quickly noticed something amiss when the shop failed to open for a week straight. Their whispers lead to a private investigation spearheaded by her parents, Brantley and Elizabeth Winmar. It was quickly confirmed that Aililth Winmar was indeed missing. The couple made a public and emotional plea for any information that would help locate their only child. Several people stepped forward to offer leads.
On the last day that the shop doors were open, a local shopkeeper reported seeing an unfamiliar hooded man entering The Crystal Serpent. "He was a stranger to Westport."
One patron of the shop also reported seeing the same man on the same day. In addition, he recalled seeing a distinctive insignia that belonged to the Order of Anchorites on the man's robe. "He was requesting a potion that required nirnroot." The man also remembered Aililth mentioning she would have to travel to a special island to gather the ingredient.
A patrolling guard remembers Aililth locking up the shop. To date, he is the last one known to see her.
Since all rumors failed to lead to the missing woman, there are whispers that Aililth is probably dead.

One Week later
Relentlessly, Brantley and Elizabeth Winmar continued their quest to locate their beloved missing daughter. The promise of coin loosened tongues and inspired some to weave tales of their own creation. Brantley investigated every lead with fervor.
A local ship-dock worker was said to step forward with new information. “She boarded The Grace early Turdas morning. I saw her talking to one of the Argonian merchants.”
Later that afternoon, an Argonian serpent dealer was said to meet privately with the Winmars. “She chartered a small vessel from me but never returned with it. If you locate my boat, you'll probably find her too.”
The next day, patrons of the Stormy Eye Inn shared gossip over drinks.
With a cup half full of mead, a farmer offered, “They say Brantley tracked Aililth's last known whereabouts to some island. They found the boat she chartered with her personal belongings still on it. No sign of her though! ”
Another man chimed in, “That's not the only thing he found. I heard Brantley had to kill her big cat because it turned into a zombie. The beast attacked his men on sight so they took it's head right off!” The man made a dramatic slicing gesture across his own throat.
The latest rumor is that Volund Decentius is now personally involved with the investigation. Aililth has been missing two weeks now.

There is grim news of the Redguard House of Winmar. Lord Brantley of House Winmar has gone missing, upon questioning of citizens, one noted that the man was furious with the former Legate and General Volund Decentius. He was observed grumbling and hiring local sell-swords.
Upon Lord Winmar's disappearance from the city of Westport, it was observed that Lady Ailith of House Winmar returned to Westport in the arm's of what appeared to be another unknown mercenary.
Rumor has it, that it could be the Former Legate. No comments were made as the Armored Mercenary carried the injured lady into Westport's hospital run by Lady Ridgewell. Upon entry into the hospital, Lady Winmar was observed to be in a rather grave condition. One citizen saying, "She is covered in lacerations and burns."
"We are treating those wounds and Miss Winmar is expected to make a full recovery,” a resident Healer of Westport said, "But we are unaware of how she came to be in her condition. Only family members are permitted to visit her at this time."

FIRE!! FIRE!! News has scattered among the Lands of Glenumbra. The Winmar estate was seen burning in the middle of the night. All servants prior to the mansion's fire were dismissed by Lady Elizabeth, Baroness of House Winmar. Servants were paid in full their dues and were notified that their service within the House of Winmar has officially ended. Rumors have sprung that during the purge of Employment, Lady Winmar herself was seen rather depressed and melancholic. Rumor has it, a shadowy figure entered the Estate in the early hours of dawn. Lady Winmar prior to the figure's arrival was noted to be nervous but in good spirits. After the figure left, the Baroness was noted to be drawn in herself. A particular servant, the Baroness' personal butler was noted to hear "It all ends here now. I love you Lily." before ordering the staff to be dismissed. After the fire was put down, only the smoldering corpse of Lady Winmar remained prostrated over a picture of herself and her husband Baron Brantley Winmar.
